“Let us never grow weary of doing good”

“Let us never grow weary of doing good” has become one of my all time favorite quotes! I have it hanging on my office wall and I wear this T-shirt proudly. Life will always be full of hustle, to-do lists and obstacles, but it is so important to slow down and remember that kindness comes cheap and doing good will never grow old. Maybe it’s just me, but I really feel like we have taken leaps and bounds in the past year! The whole “Pay it forward” movement became super popular, where good deeds as easy as paying for the coffee the car behind your ordered to make people smile. In the photography world, “Community over competition“, where photographers choose to cheer on one another instead of competing. Like these other movements, “The School Sessions” tugged at my heart strings. Education is something that is wildly important to me, so when The School Sessions popped up on my Instagram feed, I knew I had to know more! Their hope is that in one day, today, April 12th, photographers around the world will donate profits they make from sessions today to help build a school in Mellier, Haiti.

Let us never grow weary-2

The goal for The School Sessions is to raise $200,000 to help rebuild the E.C.C.A. school. Five years ago, an earthquake shook Haiti, leaving schools and homes destroyed, 500,000 people injured or killed. “In spite of our building being destroyed, parents sent their kids to our school. We asked why they chose ECCA, they said: ‘You inspire in us faith, hope and a future for our children.’”The new school will hold ten classrooms and will be both hurricane and earthquake proof. Here is what the current E.C.C.A. school looks like:

Each time I head to their Website I am more and more impressed with this idea and its founders, Jamie and Randy. This is not only about helping build a school, but being part of something greater than ourselves and using our passions to change the world. I am so excited to get Jacob and Tiffany in front of my lens today!
